Paulownia Dear, We May Not Be That Lucky
Palitha Ranatunge won the "Emerging Writer of the Year" award for 2013 at the Godage National Awards Ceremony for his first English poetry collection, "The Shifting of My Paradigm." "Paulownia Dear, We May Not Be That Lucky" is his fourth poetry collection, and he has published two other poetry books, "The Crimson Sky" and "My Epitaph for You." The Crimson Sky is his first international publication by Partridge Publishers, Singapore. Palitha Ranatunge is an Attorney-at-Law practicing in Sri Lanka and holds a master's degree in Creative Writing from the University of Greenwich, London. Most of the poems in this collection are ecopoetics. Ranatunge believes a few are arguably written as metamodernist poetry that has surpassed the era of postmodernism, fear of living amidst nuclear holocaust threats, and environmental disasters. Ranatunge foresees the resurrection of T.S. Eliot's era in the modern 21st Century poetry as a new trend beyond the parameters of postmodernism but returning to many modernist traits oscillating between modernism and postmodernism.
